Creating life is the most amazing event a woman will experience. The feeling of the baby moving inside –  it is absolutely indescribable. These moments prior to birth, where the body changes so dramatically should be captured – no matter how big you feel! Pregnancy is beautiful and wonderful, relish it. No better way to document this time than through the beauty of photography.

what to expect from your session ~

As a photographer and a mom, I understand first hand how uncomfortable and not so sexy a pregnant woman can feel. The rapidly firing hormones and dramatic changes in your body happen on a daily basis. My goal is to harness and release the beauty of creating life while making the mom-to-be feel as beautiful and sexy as possible. The more relaxed the atmosphere, the better the photographs will be.

After signing the initial contract and deposit, I will schedule a phone consult a few weeks before the scheduled photo shoot. The consult will include details about location and expectations of both the client and photographer. Many of the expectant moms I speak with are unsure of when during the pregnancy to have the pictures taken. The best time falls within month six and eight. By month six, the pregnant belly is more than made its appearance and takes on that pleasantly round shape which translates perfectly in photos.

On the day of the photo shoot come prepared with a few outfits that feel most comfortable. Body hugging fabrics are best to show off that blossoming tummy! I will spend some time assisting with wardrobe choices and putting the client at ease.

what to remember when scheduling your session ~

I am currently available primarily on the weekends, but can do some late afternoons and evenings with notice. Generally sessions run 1-2 hours with ample time to rest and relax. I am determined to take as much time as reasonably needed to create the beautiful result the client is looking for. Currently, I am booking 2-3 weeks in advance. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking to secure date and time of session. The remainder is due the day of your session.  The non-refundable deposit fee can be applied toward a rescheduled session if cancellation is necessary due to illness, poor weather conditions or another urgent matter. I also reserve the right to reschedule the session due to circumstances that will interfere with creating the timeless portrait we have discussed. Please allow at least 72 hours notice for canceling when possible.

what to wear ~

Keep the attire simple and solid. Subtle prints and textures are good too, nothing too flashy or colors that clash. Avoid the “match” trap –  matching exactly is not ideal, simple black or white or colors in similar families tend to produce the best results. Form fitting fabrics are great for a maternity session to accentuate the ever-growing belly. Do not hesitate to be daring, sexy attire with a boudoir feel is encouraged. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable and beautiful.

location, location, location ~

Location is completely up to the client. Any place that is comfortable and comforting would be best to ease any nervousness that you may be experiencing. Although I do not currently have a studio space, my home has wonderful light and comfortable spaces to pose in. The choice is yours!
